Missing mum’s ex on murder remand

- By Mark Reynolds

THE ex-boyfriend of missing mother Sarah Wellgreen appeared in court yesterday charged with her murder.

Ben Lacomba, 38, was remanded in custody by magistrates and will next appear at a crown court.

He was re-arrested on Thursday and charged, more than two months after beautician Ms Wellgreen, 46, vanished.

Her body has not yet been found despite extensive searches of land around her home and a nearby river.

Lacomba appeared before Medway magistrates yesterday and a Kent Police spokesman said: “The search for Sarah Wellgreen is ongoing.”

Ms Wellgreen disappeared on October 9 and was reported missing two days later.

She has not been in contact with her family and the only item missing with her was her mobile phone.

Searches around her home in New Ash Green, near Sevenoaks, Kent, and nearby Bazes Shaw have produced no clues and police now believe Ms Wellgreen was murdered.

Officers have searched the New Ash Green town centre area using a drone to film locations and look for anything suspicious and visible from the air.

They also cordoned off a lane near Fawkham, which runs parallel to the M20, as well as using divers to comb the River Darent in Dartford.

Ms Wellgreen’s car was left at her home address and police say there have been no new transactions on her bank or credit cards.
