Whyte has put a curse on me

- By Martin Domin

DEREK CHISORA has accused Dillian Whyte of resorting to black magic and voodoo ahead of their grudge rematch.

The heavyweights will settle their rivalry tonight, two years after Whyte edged out his fellow Londoner by the narrowest of margins.

And Chisora fuelled the fistic flames by claiming Whyte turned to the dark arts during a Sky Sports preview show.

He said: “There was some voodoo. I was sitting there and said something to him and he started shouting in voodoo curses and black magic and stuff like that.

“I was saying the Hail Mary, let the curse go back or whatever. It was a bit weird, everyone in the studio was looking at each other.

“I don’t understand why they are not getting that clip out. I’m so nervous right now I might have to get the whole congregation from my church to come and bless the O2.

“This is why I say sometimes Sky has some bias because if that was me going mad in there they would have brought out the clip. But I believe in the power of Jesus Christ; black magic is nothing.”

Victory for Whyte could secure him another rematch, this time against world champion Anthony Joshua.

Whyte was stopped by Joshua three years ago but wobbled him and a string of good wins since has catapulted him into contention.

He is the favourite to be in the opposite corner when Joshua defends his world titles at Wembley on April 13. Whyte rejected Chisora’s suggestion that he resorted to underhand tactics to clinch a seven-figure payday.

He said: “Derek says dumb stuff. I just spoke to him in his native tongue and he doesn’t know it because he doesn’t understand where he’s from. He doesn’t know anything; Derek is a silly guy, two bricks are smarter.

“I just said hello in his language and he was like ‘Jesus Christ’ and crossed himself, he didn’t understand.

“He’s a scared guy, he thinks my Samoan warrior beads are voodoo beads but I got them from Joseph Parker’s dad when I beat him.”

Despite the prospect of fighting in front of 90,000 fans next spring, Whyte insists he will not be distracted from the task at hand tonight.

He added: “I focus on one day at a time; this is now and we’ll see what happens after.

“Derek Chisora is a dangerous and motivated fighter, it would be disrespectful of me to overlook him.

But we’re always planning. We’re like a massive spider spinning our web and it’s only a matter of time before somebody drops in the middle and I pick them off.”

Volatile Chisora had to be restrained as he confronted Whyte’s brother.

He unwittingly pushed his own trainer Don Charles into a screen as both fighters’ teams clashed following the weigh-in.

Security officers were forced to step in amid fears of a repeat of the shameful scenes that tarnished the rivals’ first brawl.

Two years ago, Chisora was fined £25,000 and slapped with a two-year suspended ban for throwing a table at Whyte. Both men were warned about their conduct this week.

After Whyte and Chisora had both scaled 17st 8lb the latter said: “I was just having fun with Dillian, then some fat guy that he rolls with decided to say something. It kicked off from there.

“I was chilled, they were the ones hyping up. Dillian tried to push past and have a fight. I’m chilled, I’m easy going and I’m about to blow up their bubble.”

There was some voodoo that Sky TV won’t show
