Wolves not about to plan Euro trip

WOLVES skipper Conor Coady insists all talk of getting into Europe is crazy.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes sure his players keep their feet firmly on the ground and that starts with skipper Coady, who says Europe is not even a topic of conversati­on in the Molineux dressing room.

Wolves tackle bottom club Fulham today, four points off the top six with three wins from their last four games.

But Coady says they are not listening to those tipping the promoted side to gatecrash the European places.

He said: “We don’t think like that. We’ve gone from being in the Championsh­ip and now people are talking about Europe. We need to make sure we’re level-headed.

“It’s not that Europe talk is banned. It just doesn’t happen. All the lads will tell you nothing like that has been said in the changing room.

“We haven’t looked too much at the league because you can move so much if you win, lose or draw.”

But the Spaniard plans to give their title bid a nasty jolt at Anfield this afternoon by helping Rafa Benitez’s team to a shock win.

The odds are stacked against the Magpies becoming the first league side to beat Liverpool this term. Coming off the back of a disappoint­ing goalless draw at home to Fulham, few would predict a win for Benitez’s current club over his past employers.

But Manquillo insists it is not a lost cause, saying: “Of course, it will be tough because they are an exceptiona­l team but we believe we can win.

“We’ve only lost twice on our travels and both were by the odd goal. Whatever happens, I want them to win the title and I really believe they can do it this time

“They have made an excellent start, perform with a lot of confidence and have quality running through the team.”

Manquillo joined the Reds on an initial two-year loan from Atletico Madrid when he was still a teenager.

But after just 19 games, the loan was cut short and he spent a season at Marseille before returning to England with Sunderland and then Newcastle.
