Now Mount’s on top of the world

MASON MOUNT feels the pressure has lifted after he helped Derby grab a sensational win.

Chelsea midfielder Mount, on loan with the Rams, is only 19 but has been in the England squad and wants to be an on-pitch leader.

The teenager was feeling bogged down by not scoring in three months, but rectified that at Carrow Road.

He made one and scored one as Frank Lampard’s men came from 2-0 down – and although Derby fell 3-2 behind, Mount and his team-mates turned the game around at the death.

“I’m only young so it is tough,” he said. “When I have a run where I haven’t scored I put a lot of pressure on myself.

“I feel I’m a big player in this team. I need to step up and lead. Even though I’m maybe not the biggest talker on the field I need to lead by example. To finally get a goal helps.” Mount called the match “crazy” and does not think he will play in one like it again.

The dramatic finale followed a 15-minute delay – while Norwich led 3-2 – after a floodlight failed.

Mount added: “When something like that happens it affects the team leading more.

“We had time to speak in the changing room. When we came back out all we had on our minds was attack.

“This was a massive game and our No1 win of the season.”

Norwich had deserved their two early goals through Ben Godfrey and Teemu Pukki.

The Canaries leaked two goals from corners though as Fikayo Tomori and Mount replied. Pukki pounced late on to put Norwich 3-2 up but then came the late chaos and defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.

Manager Daniel Farke admitted he needed to speak to his players about tightening up defensively.

Interest from Premier League clubs in his right-back

Max Aarons is not helping.

Norwich’s attack has got them out of jail in recent weeks but could not paper over the cracks here. Pukki said: “It had been us scoring at the end.

“We need to feel a bit sad and angry but we play again soon, which is good.” NORWICH (4-5-1): Krul; Aarons, Klose, Zimmermann, Godfrey; Tettey, Vrancic (Trybull 85), Hernandez, Stiepermann (Srbeny 90), Cantwell; Pukki (Rhodes 88).
