Juventus are leading race for Ramsey

- By Darren Lewis

JUVENTUS believe they will land Aaron Ramsey this summer on a free transfer with a stunning £7million-ayear package.

Ramsey, 28 is free to speak to foreign clubs with six months left on his Arsenal contract. Juventus want to offer a deal worth £140,000 a week over four years.

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are set to weigh in with similarly lucrative deals for Ramsey to end his 11-year Gunners spell.

The Welshman joined Arsenal from Cardiff in 2008. He has lifted three FA Cups, scoring the winning goal in the 2014 and 2017 finals.

But in September Arsenal withdrew their final offer to extend his contract beyond June.

Should he complete a move to Juventus, Ramsey would join John Charles and David Platt as British players to have joined the Italian champions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss

Unai Emery has been fined £8,000 after admitting an improper conduct charge for kicking a water bottle into the crowd during the Boxing Day draw at Brighton.

The 47-year-old apologised to a fan after kicking the bottle and again went to speak to the home supporter at full-time.

Emery could today be without Mesut Ozil, who remains a doubt to face Fulham after missing Saturday’s demolition at Liverpool with a knee injury.

Arsenal are also facing a defensive injury nightmare with Hector Bellerin (calf), Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin) and Rob Holding (knee) all out. Nacho Monreal (thigh) remains a doubt.

Although Shkodran Mustafi returned at Liverpool, he was taken off at half-time after the Gunners had shipped four goals in the first period.

Fulham also have issues after losing defender Alfie Mawson to a knee injury during the 1-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday, an ailment manager Claudio Ranieri fears could prove to be serious.

The Italian is managing his third English club and, while familiar with the intense run of festive fixtures, is wary of how they will gradually affect his players.

Ranieri says his side’s hopes of survival would have been strengthened if a winter break had been introduced.

“It’s important that the players get a rest. The pitch needs a rest, and the teams that play in the Champions League need a rest,” he said. “In March, April you would feel better if you had two weeks’ rest. It would be good for English football to have some teams who fight for the final of the Champions League. “This isn’t frustrating – I accept it. I know the tradition here.”

Ranieri and Emery both managed Valencia, and the Fulham boss said: “Unai is working well and it will be another tough match for us. I’ve come across him before. He’s an intelligent and experienced coach.

“He was also in France. When you move countries, you open the mind.

“Also the Premier League is in my opinion the best league in the world.

“There are so many champions.

When there are more, you have to think.”
