DON’T MIND THE GAP

- By David Anderson

JURGEN KLOPP has dismissed Liverpool’s seven-point lead over Manchester City ahead of tomorrow’s showdown at the Etihad.

Liverpool have powered away from City in the title race on the back of a nine-match winning run to make Kopites believe this will finally be the season their 29-year wait to be crowned champions ends.

But manager Klopp, left, insists they are not thinking about their advantage as they prepare for the big clash. He says they are just focused on themselves and take confidence from their 54-point haul from 20 games.

He said: “We don’t think about the gap, not for a second. What we

consistency is key if Tottenham are to be seriously considered as title contenders. He said: “Today we showed great energy and maturity. “Now we need to keep that level and consistency throughout the season if we want to be there and fight for big things. We showed Wolves was just an accident.

“The most important thing is to find a way to be consistent if we want to be a contender. We need to believe more in us. We are in a process of doing fantastic things. “Cardiff would have been big on confidence after their win at Leicester, so this was massive for us to put ourselves in a very good position in the table.

“I’m so pleased for the players after the Wolves result. It wasn’t a problem of us being tired, it was concentration.”

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock feels Spurs should be told to see things out at the national stadium, rather than move to their new ground, which they expect to do in the coming weeks.

Warnock said: “The league should enforce that they play at Wembley for the rest of the season. They have made that many cock-ups now with the timing, I think the Premier League should now force them to play at Wembley.

“I don’t think there should be a chance of any advantage to any of our opponents really. It’s not our fault. We should have been playing at the new stadium ourselves, so I think they should step in now, rather than be there in six or seven weeks, or whatever it is. “I think they should be there until the end of the season, and the league should enforce it now.”
