Pochettino hoping for title lift from the Lane

- By Neil McLeman

MAURICIO Pochettino wants Tottenham to move “home” to White Hart Lane this season to boost their title bid – even it is for just one game.

But the Spurs boss, right, said his thirdplaced team will have to win every match to stand a title chance, starting with a

“cup final” against Leicester tomorrow.

Pochettino said his “gut feeling is that it is going to be tough” to leave Wembley for their new 62,000-seater arena after a series of delays.

The March 2 north London derby against Arsenal has been ruled out as a first game, meaning there will then be only five remaining home matches.

But Pochettino said: “Daniel Levy [chairman] still believes. He is working hard in order to deliver. The club has my opinion, which is: ‘Move’. If we can play one or five games, I want to move. Even for one game, I take the risk. I am brave. Lift the league trophy in the new stadium? Exactly. Or we lose it. But in our home.

“I always prefer to play at home, in my stadium, in my house. I hope that happens.”

Tottenham’s title tilt will also be helped by Harry Kane’s return from an ankle injury earlier than thought HOME ALONE: Mauricio Pochettino – possibly February 23 at Burnley. Pochettino said: “He’s so close to coming back again. Not for Sunday, not for Wednesday but we will see after.” Leicester’s Marc Albrighton, meanwhile, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn hamstring. Manager Claude Puel said: “He will have an operation. It’s serious. It’s a blow because we know Marc’s qualities.” Albrighton was injured in training before the game against Manchester United last Sunday and scans later have shown that surgery is the only option to repair the damage to the winger.
