Stars outshone by Kate who dazzled in a white dress and Diana’s favourite earrings

THE Duchess of Cambridge stole the show at the Baftas last night in a stunning one-shouldered white gown.

All eyes were on Kate, 37, as she walked the red carpet at London’s Royal Albert Hall in a floor-length Alexander McQueen gown with floral motif.

In a touching tribute to her husband the Duke of Cambridge’s late mother, she also wore Princess Diana’s favourite earrings.

Diana wore the same South Sea pearl accessorie­s to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1991.

The Duchess, who matched her gown with a pair of Jimmy Choo glitter shoes, arrived with William, 36. The royal couple are regulars at the annual event as he has been Bafta president since in 2010.

The Favourite dominated the evening, winning seven gongs including outstandin­g British film.

Olivia Colman, 45, wore an elegant black and white gown as she picked up her gong for best actress, while co-star Rachel Weisz received the best supporting actress award.

The 48-year-old wore a stunning flowing cream dress of layered tulle with a silver belt.

Actress Margot Robbie, 28, who was nominated for best supporting actress for her performanc­e as Elizabeth I in Mary Queen Of Scots, went for an unusual dress featuring black winged sleeves and a matching fishtail skirt.

The Crown actress Claire Foy, 34, wore an understate­d strapless green gown as she walked down the red carpet.

Westworld actress Thandie Newton, 46, wore a tight black bodice above a full black and grey ruffled skirt.

Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson, 26, chose a pink and black gown, along with a large bow detail. She said she was terrified but excited to be at the awards.

She said: “It’s terrifying but it’s great. It’s very exciting to be part of this and it’s very special.”
