Rooney caught offside in boozy night with barmaid

- By David Pilditch

WAYNE Rooney has scored an own goal again after jumping into a barmaid’s car following a drinking session.

The former England captain is alleged to have met Vicki Rosiek, 32, during a pub crawl with teammates at a resort in Florida.

It is believed Rooney, 33, had been left drinking on his own after fellow DC United players called it a night.

He was spotted jumping into Ms Rosiek’s Nissan at 12.30am before she drove him to The Shipwreck pub on Clearwater Beach.

Wife Coleen, 32, was said to be with the couple’s four sons, Kai, nine, Klay, five, Kit, three, and 11-month-old Cass, at home in Washington DC at the time.

Rooney was in Florida for a 12-day training camp with his US team ahead of the new season in America.

It is claimed Rooney and Ms Rosiek knocked back shots and Rooney struggled to get a DJ to understand his accent when he asked him to play Mumford & Sons hit Timshel.

Ms Rosiek told how she met the former England striker a few days earlier at the resort’s Toucan’s Bar and Grill, where she works.

showdown

She said he approached her after bumping into her last Sunday in the Brown Boxer bar, where he ended up drinking alone after earlier watching the Super Bowl with his teammates.

Vicki said: “There was a group of us there. He seemed down to earth, just a regular dude, a little shy and quiet.”

The pair chatted for 10 minutes before Ms Rosiek offered Rooney, who was drinking a light beer, a lift. They left together and she drove half a mile to The Shipwreck at 12.30am.

Rooney stayed for two hours before calling it a night. Ms Rosiek went home with a friend half an hour later.

There is no suggestion of anything improper between Rooney and Ms Rosiek but the incident comes just weeks after he was arrested for being drunk at an airport in Washington DC.

The latest episode is likely to lead to a showdown with Coleen.

Just 17 months ago Rooney was caught driving office worker Laura Simpson’s VW Beetle in Cheshire while three times over the limit and later handed a two-year driving ban.
