Women’s Institute does more good than Labour

I ENJOYED Ann Widdecombe’s column (“We’re all losers in a ‘fixed’ equality race”, February 6), in particular about the selection and promotion of female MPs.

Her timing was brilliant because at PMQs on Wednesday the Labour front bench consisted entirely of women. It looked like a WI meeting, the only difference being the WI is an excellent organisation whose members do a tremendous amount of good work. Martyn Redmore, Huntingdon, Cambs
