Gayle feeling Albion strain

- By Dave Armitage

WEST BROM striker Dwight Gayle is finding the promotion dogfight bad for his nerves.

Gayle hopes to add to his 16 goals this season against Nottingham Forest tonight and get the win which would see the Baggies go up to third.

But the on-loan Newcastle forward said: “The Championship is very stressful. The 1-0 win at Stoke on Saturday wasn’t our best performance. It was a grind but showed we’re able to see out games.

“The last few weeks we’ve been playing quite well but haven’t been quite able to see out games. It’s important for our confidence for the rest of the season to see out games with a clean sheet.

“We know how good Forest are. They’re probably one of the best teams we’ve played this season.” Gayle is backing his Albion side to put in a strong finish to the campaign.

“It’s vital that we grind out results like we did against Stoke,” he said.

“If we can get a few more of those, we’ll be right up there.”
