Aguero? He is fantastic

- By Gideon Brooks

MACHINE: Aguero has successive home hat-tricks BERNARDO Silva has saluted the longevity of Sergio Aguero, saying his team-mates are running out of words to describe his importance to the club.

The Argentina striker, 30, struck a second hat-trick inside eight days to put City back on top of the league and lift himself level with Mohamed Salah at the top of the scoring charts on 17 goals.

Silva said: “You don’t need any more words to describe him. He just proves week after week how good he is, year after year.

“It has been eight years like that he plays for Man City and it is just fantastic for us to have a striker like him scoring so many goals for us. I just hope he continues.”

Aguero is on course to breach the 20-goal mark for the fifth straight year and sixth since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

A second hat-trick against Chelsea, after a treble against Arsenal nine days ago, brought him level with Alan Shearer’s record of 11 and also took him to 160 Premier League goals from 229 outings.

Oleksandr Zinchenko described him as a “goal machine” saying: “He’s a life legend. He is on fire at the moment and we are so happy for him.”

City’s 6-0 win against Chelsea was one of their best, says Silva.

He said: “We have had a lot of very good performances. But this one was one of the best because we played against one of the best sides in the world and we beat them 6-0.”

Now the blue half of Manchester are looking to neighbours United to put a spanner in rival Liverpool’s works by beating them in their game in hand when the two play at Old Trafford on February 24, but are not banking on the favour.

Silva said: “It is better if they lose some points but all of us, not only the manager but all of the players, have been saying to focus on our job.

“If we don’t win our games, it doesn’t matter what they do so that is the most important thing now.”

Zinchenko echoed those words, however he added: “I hope Liverpool are going to drop some points in the next game but we have to have full focus on our game now.”
