AARON RAMSEY has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Juventus and become one of Britain’s highest-earning players on £400,000 a week.

The Arsenal and Wales midfielder, 28, has made more than 250 Premier League appearances since joining Arsenal in 2008 but has failed to agree to a new deal and will join Juventus as a free agent. Ramsey, below, has made 22 league appearances for Arsenal this season and scored twice.

He said last night: “I wanted to issue a personal statement for all the Arsenal fans who have been extremely loyal and supportive.

“You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me through all the highs and lows I’ve encountered during my time at the club.

“It is with a heavy heart that I leave after 11 incredible years in north London. I will continue to give the team 100 per cent and hope to finish the season strongly before heading on to my next chapter.”

Ramsey’s compatriot Gareth Bale is currently the highest

British earner, taking £650,000 a week – or £350,000 a week after tax at Real Madrid.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, meanwhile, in danger of leaving his relationship with the club at breaking point after his latest cry-off.

Ozil, right, has missed as many games as he has played this season through either illness, a back injury, a knee problem or being left out.

The 30-year-old, who is Arsenal’s biggest earner on £350,000 a week, reported in sick for Saturday’s win at Huddersfield. Ozil has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season and struggled under Unai Emery’s regime, although the feeling at the club is the manager is trying everything to make it work.

Ozil has been made captain, was handed the No10 shirt in the summer and given a huge contract but the club are getting very little value for money. Arsenal would be open to offers on Ozil, whose contract expires in 2021, but his wages would be a stumbling block with Inter Milan and Chinese teams the only clubs to have shown real interest.
