EastEnder Katie: I’ve been glassed by drunken man

- By Tom Bryant

EASTENDERS star Katie Jarvis has been glassed in an attack on a night out in her home town, it emerged yesterday.

The actress – who plays Hayley Slater in the BBC soap – was treated by paramedics after the assault in Romford, east London, last Friday night.

She tweeted: “Big thank you to the Met Police tonight and ambulance service for looking after me after I was glassed by a drunken man for **** all.”

Fling

The 27-year-old later deleted the message but not before concerned fans spotted it and asked how she was.

She later posted: “Thanks lovely lot I’m good as gold.”

Katie joined the cast as the mouthy cousin of Kat Moon, played by Jessie Wallace, at the beginning of last year.

It was revealed a few months after Hayley arrived that she and Alfie Moon had a fling while they lived in Spain with Kat and their children. Hayley fell pregnant and decided to keep the baby, eventually giving birth late last year to daughter Cherry.

In dramatic Christmas scenes, Hayley and Alfie’s betrayal was exposed to Kat, leading to a showdown.

Katie was last seen on screen last month when Stacey Fowler, played by Lacey Turner, went to hospital to collect her after she was treated for mental health problems and alcohol addiction.

However, Stacey was told the troubled young mum had discharged herself and taken off. BBC bosses are understood to be keeping the door open for her return.

Mother-of-two Katie found fame in Hollywood before winning a part in the BBC soap.

Her breakthrough film was playing rebellious teenager Mia in 2009’s critically acclaimed drama Fish Tank.

Her agent said he had nothing to say about her assault and police had not made a comment last night.
