United must be ruthless raps Rashford

- James Nursey

MARCUS RASHFORD says Manchester United are “a million miles” better this season but need to be more ruthless.

United were held 1- 1 at Wolves on Monday night and have four points from their first two league games.

It is three more than they earned from that span last term, and the display was also a big improvement from United’s two

2- 1 defeats at Molineux in the league and FA Cup last season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side might ight have won had Paul Pogba not had a second- half penalty saved. But there was still a lot about United’s quick passing play that excited Rashford.

Recalling his side’s previous trip to Molineux in April, Rashford, above, said:

se“It’s a million miles off that performance. The result is disheartening but we brush ourselves down and go again.

“W We still have . things to work on, bu but it was y a decent performance, w we were unlucky to come away w with a point.

“We see the improvement, we fe feel it, but we need to show it – th that’s the most important part. It does doesn’t matter if you’re improving every day in training if you’re not getting the results you deserve.

“We know individually and as a team that we have improved. The performance I think shows that, but we have to be ruthless in terms of creating and taking

the chances.” Ruben Neves’ stunning strike on Monday cancelled out Anthony Martial’s superb left- foot finish, which came after Rashford threaded though an intelligent pass.

United were then denied a potential win as Wolves keeper Rui Patricio pushed away Pogba’s spot- kick, sparking a huge debate over whether the Frenchman should have taken it after Rashford scored from the spot on the opening weekend.

But the England striker said: “Paul wanted to take it, I took the one last week and it was no problem.

“He’s scored countless penalties for us, countless penalties in his career and it’s normal for somebody to miss a penalty. We don’t need to make a deal of it. If we had another penalty, I’m sure he’d score.”
