Boy, 14, due in court after a ‘devastating’ fire at school
A BOY of 14 has been arrested in connection with a “devastating” school fire.
More than 80 firefighters worked through the night to tackle the “large and complex” blaze at Woodmill High Schol in Dunfermline, Fife, on Sunday. No injuries were reported.
Fire crews were still battling to control the flames yesterday as they spread MODERATE exercise may be the best antidote to the most common side effect of statins, researchers have said.
Some people feel muscle pain after taking the heart medication. Scientists now believe they know why.
Research funded by the British Heart Foundation found that statins cause spontaneous and irregular leaks of calcium stored in muscle cells.
Most people can tolerate the leaks, but in people already susceptible due to their genes or lifestyle, leaks caused by statins may overwhelm their muscle cells, causing pain and weakness.
Dr Sarah Calaghan, associate professor in cardiac physiology from the University of Leeds, said: “We found that moderate exercise cancelled out the changes in muscle cells caused by statins. Sandy McIntosh said: “We are all utterly devastated by what has happened.
“My heartfelt thanks go to the emergency services for all they have done to save our school.”
Scotland’s Deputy First Minister John Swinney tweeted that he was “terribly sorry” to hear about the blaze, while David Alexander and David Ross, co-leaders of Fife Council, said it was “a very sad day” for the area.
