Hamilton: I can still blow title
LEWIS HAMILTON believes he can still throw away a sixth drivers’ title despite his 62-point lead.
The reigning champion has won eight of 12 races ahead of tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix as Formula One returns following the summer shutdown.
Mercedes teammateValtteri Bottas is his nearest challenger, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen a further seven points behind the Briton.
But Ferrari, without a win all season, topped both opening timesheets at Spa yesterday and Hamilton is taking nothing for granted.
“I take it as a compliment that people expect me to win the title,” he said.
“But I know how much work I still have to do. If I don’t turn up this weekend in Spa, or next weekend in Monza, or if I make mistakes, I can easily lose this championship.”
