Leeds fans have taken to Nketiah after his three goals in his first four games, with chants of “Eddie, Eddie”.

The on-loan Arsenal striker is grateful for their support and says Wright has helped him slot straight in.

The Gunners legend has championed Nketiah on social media and was at Elland Road last week when he came off the bench to score Leeds’ late winner against Brentford.

“He’s been a massive help and nice to have around,” said Nketiah. “He’s taken a real liking to me and it’s just a dream come true.

“As a kid, I always looked up to him and watched his clips. For him to be taking such an active role and supporting and coming down to watch the games is great for me.

“He gives a lot of advice, a bit like a little mentor. I just try to learn and get everything I can from him because he’s been a top player and had a great career.

“We talk about how I’m doing here, how I’m settling and stuff. He’s a nice guy, an easy guy to talk to, so he makes life a lot easier. It’s good.”

Nketiah, 20, is pushing to make his first league start in today’s summit clash with Swansea at Elland Road and also thanked the fans for taking to him so quickly.

He loves their passion and says they were one of the reasons why he wanted to come to Elland Road. “The Leeds fans are crazy, they’re great,” said the England Under-21 striker. “That has been a big part of me enjoying my time here, with how quickly they have taken to me.

“Even when I was deciding to sign, the support I was getting from the fans in the media was great.

“I’m delighted. I’m going to continue to give my all and try to do well, so hopefully they will appreciate that.” Swansea boss Steve Cooper admits the rough and tumble of the Championship has hit him hard.

“We need someone who can bring some stability. Time constraints are a big thing here. The deadline is Monday at 5pm – we have a day-anda-half of normal working hours.
