EDDIE READY TO AXE BORUC

- By Alex Crook

ARTHUR BORUC could be axed by Bournemouth today after being spotted among the Legia Warsaw ultras at Rangers on Thursday without Eddie Howe's permission.

Polish goalkeeper and Celtic legend Boruc, 39, was in the Ibrox crowd to cheer on former club Legia in their Europa League play-off. He was photographed chanting into a megaphone as Rangers won 1-0 with a dramatic last-gasp goal to secure a place in the group stage. But Cherries manager Howe reacted angrily to the images, which went viral on social media, and could now strip Boruc of his place at Leicester. Howe said: "I only knew about it late on

Thursday night. It is not ideal from my perspective, from everybody’s perspective, that I am finding out about it like that. I will have to speak with Artur about it.

“I don’t know too much about the details.

“I know he was there and I will be discussing it with him. I will always try and do what is best for the team.”

Boruc has started the season as back-up to Aaron Ramsdale.

But Irish keeper Mark Travers, 20, is set to step up to No2 after starring in Bournemouth’s penalty shootout win over Forest Green in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Howe added: “Mark is improving every day. He’s matured unrecognisably from this time last year.”
