By DIANA Dors’ youngest son has died following his battle with alcoholism after struggling to cope with the sight of the Grenfell Tower inferno from his nearby home.

Actor and musician Jason Dors Lake, 50, admitted he found it a challenge to cope with life in the aftermath of the 2017 tragedy.

His death was confirmed yesterday on the Facebook group Diana Dors: The Legacy.

A post read: “It saddens me to inform you of the passing of Diana’s youngest son, Jason Dors Lake at the age of 50. Please join me in offering condolences, thoughts and RAF veteran George Dunn reached for the sky in a Spitfire for the first time in more than 70 years yesterday.

The 97-year-old ex-Flight Lieutenant and Distinguished Flying Cross holder marked Battle of Britain Day with a flight from Biggin Hill in Kent.

Mr Dunn, who flew bombers during the war and tested Spitfires after it, is backing the RAF Benevolent Fund’s centenary campaign to ensure veterans are getting the help they need.

Last year, the RAFBF spent £21million supporting more than 53,000 members of the Air Force “family”. The charity believes 100,000 more veterans are in urgent need of support but are failing to seek it.

Air Vice-Marshal David Murray, RAFBF chief executive, said: “We must never forget the sacrifices of The Few, without who the SecondWorldWar may have turned out very differently.

“Sadly, very few of this generation remain with us. However, our duty is not over. Since the Battle of Britain, many other generations have served, including the hundreds of thousands who undertook National Service. The youngest of whom is now 75.

“It is all of our responsibility to help them in their time of need, so we’re asking their friends or relatives to help us encourage them to seek support.

“We must reach them and their partners, before it’s too late.”

September 15, 1940, saw the fiercest engagement of the Battle of Britain with 1,500 aircraft taking to the skies.

The day ended with a decisive British prayers to Jason’s loved ones and close friends at this time.”

His actress mother was regarded as Britain’s answer to Marilyn Monroe due to her blonde bombshell looks.

Mr Dors went on to sell merchandise to her fans after being left the mother-of-three’s estate. She died of ovarian cancer at 52 when he was 14.

He then suffered the heartbreaking loss of his father actor Alan Lake five months later after he turned a shotgun on himself in his son’s room.

Mr Dors previously lived at a £1million Notting Hill home in victory causing Hitler to postpone his plans to invade Britain.

As a Bomber Command pilot, Flt Lt Dunn flew 44 missions – 30 in Halifax bombers over industrial targets and 14 Mosquito raids on Berlin.

After the war, he test piloted a new generation of Spitfires and Hurricanes, before leaving the RAF in 1948.

The RAFBF can be contacted 0300 102 1919. on west London after moving from his Kent home. He later turned to drink and drugs to get through the ordeal.

In a court hearing he was hit with a conditional discharge for stealing a £5 bottle of wine from a local Sainsbury’s.

Ruth Johnson, defending him at the time, said: “Mr Lake was going through a very bad patch, he had stopped drinking for around a year but he lives quite near Grenfell Tower.

“He and friends had a first-hand view of that and unfortunately that pushed him back into drinking.”

The actor is survived by his daughter Ruby.
