IN 2006, brothers Simon and Mark Ledwick opened their first Subway store, and now employ over 160 people throughout the north west. Having seen Subway grow while in America, the brothers wanted to be part of a franchise because they knew having their own business with a well-known brand was going to be a winner.

Simon, below, said: “We looked into a Subway franchise and were impressed with what we saw. It offered a proven business model, with opportunity to grow.

“The brand was well established in the UK. It seemed to be a safe investment, with plenty of opportunity to develop our own business.”

Year-onyear,

franchising continues to grow. It is one of the most successful routes to business ownership, enabling hard-working individuals to fulfil their ambition to become their own boss, but with the added reassurance of joining a tried and tested business model.

Ongoing training is provided by experienced business development teams to ensure every franchise owner maximises the success of their store.

Simon added: “Our business development agent has always provided support and mentoring. “The agents help with everything from site selection, leasing, design, construction, hands-on training, purchasing, operations, advertising and much more.” Running their own business has allowed Simon and Mark to work at their own pace and gives them more control over their work-life balance, but with the confidence of working within an established brand.

Mark said: “We have been able to grow our business at the rate we wanted to.

“As multi-unit Subway® franchise owners, we have progressed from the early days working in the stores, gaining hugely valuable skills and experience, to taking on a more strategic, managerial role.”

If, like Simon and Mark, you would like to become your own boss and join one of the largest and most popular franchise brands, Subway would like to hear from you.
