THE LOOK OF LOVE

Princess Beatrice to marry Italian tycoon

- By David Pilditch

PRINCESS Beatrice said she “can’t wait to actually be married” after her engagement to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was announced by Buckingham Palace.

The news was initially broken by her sister Princess Eugenie, who jumped the gun by posting her congratulations on Instagram before yesterday’s official announcement.

The message was posted along with these photographs taken by Eugenie, which were released to announce the engagement.

The Queen is understood to have met Edoardo and his son Christopher, two, who he had with London-based architect Dara Huang, 37.The child is also known as “Wolfie”.

Beatrice will become stepmother, while the Queen will be a step-greatgrandmother for the first time.

The Princess is seen wearing her 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring, from British jewellery designer Shaun Leane. It is worth an estimated £60,000.

The couple will marry next year after secretly becoming engaged during a romantic weekend break in Italy earlier this month. In a joint statement, they told how they are both “so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together” and of their hopes for the “years ahead full of love and happiness”.

Edoardo, 35, wrote on Instagram: “You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever.”

Beatrice, 31, said she was “so excited” by the announcement.

The Queen’s granddaughter, who is ninth in line to the throne, has enjoyed a whirlwind romance with the millionaire businessman.

They began dating last October, around the time younger sister Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank.

In the engagement pictures, Beatrice is wearing a green floral £595 Zimmermann dress, and makes no attempt to hide her joy.

Her parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, who divorced in 1996, said: “We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man.We send them every good wish.”

Royal insiders said the wedding could take place next spring.

PRINCESS Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s engagement has already brightened the country’s horizon. Hopefully, we will have left the EU by the time they tie the knot. The 31-year-old princess’s engagement to the 34-year-old Italian is a beautiful reminder that although we will cut a bureaucratic cord with Brussels we will never stop loving the people and culture of Europe.
