POCHETTINO: I’M SUFFERING
Spurs boss admits he’s tormented by earlyseason form slump
MAURICIO POCHETTINO admits that he is “suffering” through Tottenham’s disappointing start to the season.
Spurs were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Colchester on Tuesday, are 10 points behind Premier League pacesetters Liverpool and blew a 2-0 lead when they drew 2-2 at Olympiakos in the Champions League.
Pochettino said: “Football for me is about the glory. There is nothing more important than the glory. When you win, how you feel – there is
not another thing you can find like it. I am suffering.”
Spurs’ poor form since losing to Liverpool in the Champions League final in June has raised doubts about Pochettino’s future.
The manager admitted he is “frustrated” because he has not won any silverware during his five years at the club. Real Madrid have been circling and the Argentinian even confessed this week there have been “different agendas” within his playing squad.
“I am in an unbelievable environment,” said Pochettino ahead of tomorrow’s league game at home to Southampton.
“The training ground is amazing and we have the best stadium in the world. But football is about winning. You can be frustrated and disappointed sometimes.
“I told you we are going to fight to try to make it possible to change the history of this club.
“This is going to be difficult but football is not an ordinary business.
“Difficult times can happen and you have to have different tools to fight against this situation.”
