BOTTLERS Raging Bruce accuses Newcastle flops of a ‘complete surrender’

- By Dave Armitage

BOSS Steve Bruce tore into Newcastle’s “complete surrender” after their nightmare drubbing at Leicester. The Magpies were reduced to 10 men after Isaac Hayden saw red for a horror tackle on Dennis Praet just before half-time. Bruce, right, refused to defend Hayden or his other players after watching his side collapse.

He said: “I don’t think you really want to know what I said to them in there. It’s not worth repeating. That was a complete surrender, which happened way too quick and too easily. We didn’t do anything to stop

Leicester’s momentum. I’ve only been here two or three months but I haven’t witnessed what I witnessed there. People talk about tactics but we need to show a bit of heart first. That’s as bad an afternoon as I can remember.”

Bruce did not come to Hayden’s rescue, and said: “It was a poor challenge – I’ve got no complaints. Maybe back in my day you could get away with it but I have no argument.”

He said he felt sorry for the travelling Toon Army who had to endure a total capitulation.

Bruce added: “The support is what makes this club what it is and we can’t take that for granted either. We need to give them something to shout about and show some heart and resilience.”

Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles, above, said: “We have had a rollicking off the gaffer and we really need to look at ourselves in the mirror.”

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers said he was looking forward to take his side to table-topping former club Liverpool this Saturday, adding:

“We’re going there to get a result.

It’s a tough game but we’ll look to embrace that.”
