Collapsed dam probe is heavily censored
A REPORT into the Whaley Bridge dam collapse has been ridiculed after it was heavily redacted because of “national security”.
More than 1,500 residents in the Derbyshire town were evacuated amid fears Toddbrook Reservoir would burst and flood the town in August.
The Canal and River Trust has released two reports from inspections last November before a potential public inquiry.
But the versions are heavily blanked-out, prompting anger.
Resident Matthew Forrest called the review a “nonsensical black hole of a document”.
He added: “The near disaster could have killed thousands.”
The CRT claims it redacted information on the basis of “national security and public safety”.
