- By Cyril Dixon

FAROOK Owadally enjoyed a glitzy night at the Cannes Film Festival as lawyers were chasing him over the substandard properties he rents out.

The millionaire accountant lined up alongside the stars of 2014 comedy One Night In Istanbul in a celebrity photoshoot.

Alongside him at the film’s launch were Paul Barber, best known for playing Denzil in Only Fools And Horses, and actor StevenWaddington.

Owadally described himself as the film’s financier and executive producer at the party, thrown by lifestyle broadcaster Fashion TV.

He told the station’s interviewer: “Hello, I’m Farook Owadally, lovely to be in Cannes here with FashionTV.We’re here to promote our film. It’s a fantastic comedy drama, it’s a film not to be missed. I hope that when it comes out you go out and watch this exciting family film.”

The film is about two Liverpool FC fans who travel to Istanbul for the team’s triumph in the 2005 Champions League final.

It was released after Westminster Council first began taking legal action against him. Mr Owadally was reportedly first approached about the movie – which also stars husband and wife actors Mark and SamanthaWomack – through his accounting firm Owadally & King.

He went on to become a director of company

Big Ears Entertainment with the film’s production chiefs Nicky Allt and James Marquand.
