Level playing field what is really needed on finances

WHILE it is good news pensions are to rise by four per cent it is still unfair some pensioners have to claim pension tax credit.

Claimants can then access other benefits such as housing and council tax and, soon, free TV licences, putting them in a better position than those who don’t claim.

Surely now is the time to even it all out and put all pensioners on the same financial footing so all are treated the same way?

If there is to be any means testing, look at other incomes (not state pension) and maybe use the tax rate that people pay. Anne Jones,
