Hardly a sparkling tribute to mark diamond wedding

MY wife and I have just celebrated our diamond wedding and were delighted when she received her pension increase for her 80th birthday – 25p. She is delighted and cannot wait to spend it.

She is in receipt of £86 per week and worked all our married life on a part-time basis, paying all stamps. Did she do something wrong – as you state in your column the basic state pension is £168 per week?
