IS ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE CATCHPHRASE THE BEST EVER?
Yes
THE sign of a truly great catchphrase is that it doesn’t matter how many times you say it, it’s still funny.
This is certainly the case with Victor Meldrew’s immortal line from One Foot In The Grave (“I don’t believe it! Grumpy Meldrew tops catchphrase poll”, October 1).Watching occasional repeats of this great comedy,
I still laugh out loud when I hear this great pay-off.
I know there are some other great catchphrases and other moments from this show, but this stands the test of time.

No
WHILE Victor Meldrew’s catchphrase is brilliant I think there are others that stand the test of time too.
How could we ever forget Lance Corporal Jones’s “Don’t panic!”? Not to mention Del Boy’s finer moments in Only Fools And Horses, such as “Plonker”, “You Wally” and his hilarious attempts to sound sophisticated with his French utterances.
As for some of the non-comedy ones, like “Simples” by the meerkats, these are also brilliant. There should have been more than one winner.
