Royals ripped apart by Cairney and Mitrovic

-

TOM CAIRNEY and Aleksandar Mitrovic scored two apiece as Fulham thrashed 10-man Reading 4-1.

A brace each from two of Fulham’s ‘Fab Four’ attacking quartet had this game sewn up after John Swift was sent off.

Cairney, who only scored once all last season in the Premier League, notched his fifth of the campaign and fourth in three games after only 13 minutes.

But two bookings for wild lunges in 15 minutes and a first red card of his career for Swift saw Mitrovic wade in with two goals in three minutes before the half-hour.

Cairney added his second with a lob after a poor back pass sold Rafael short. Yakou Meite scored a late consolation for Reading.

Anthony Pilkington was given a gift by Birmingham goalkeeper Lee Camp to end a long injury absence with his first goal for Wigan in their 1-0 win.

The Latics forward, who had not played since the opening day, came on as a substitute and his 20-yard hit-and-hope effort squirmed under Camp’s body with 14 minutes left.

Joe Lolley earned a point for Nottingham Forest, who made it nine games unbeaten with a 1-1 draw at Blackburn. Adam Armstrong had put Rovers ahead.

Garry Monk suffered his first league defeat as Sheffield Wednesday boss after Tom Eaves scored in a 1-0 victory for Hull.
