CRIMINALISING THE PIE-LOVING WORKING CLASS ISN’T THE ANSWER TO OBESITY

-

THERE’S no other way to put this, but the outgoing Chief Medical Officer Dame Sally Davies is an idiot.

The woman who wants to halve childhood obesity by 2030 reckons all food and drink should be banned on trains and buses, and pies and burgers should be banned at footie games.

And what does Prof Dame Sally think obese kids - and adults - will do when they’re not on trains and buses and at footie matches? They’ll carry on eating that’s what.

Banning food in public places won’t solve the obesity problem, all it does is determine where people can and can’t eat. And this is Britain for God’s sake – a democracy, a free country. There shouldn’t be diktats or laws telling people where and when they can eat. If we get to the stage here where eating a chocolate bar on a bus is a crime we’re done for.

In her last report before retiring (Hallelujah!) Dame Sally, who has long been the ludicrous leading light of the Nanny State, says “We’re nowhere near solving childhood obesity.”

What’s to solve? If children are overweight or obese that’s down to their parents. Children don’t do the supermarket shop. Kids don’t fill the fridges at home. Parents do, and they’re responsible for what goes into their children’s mouths and for educating them on what to eat.

Yet elite metropolitan bods like Dame Sally think the way to deal with a third of all kids being obese is to ban stuff and criminalise the working classes because they like a pie, pizzas and chocolate when they’re out and about.

NB: Sally Davies also says people may die as a result of drugs shortages if there’s a No Deal Brexit. That’s right luv, cause widespread panic among sick people who might very well die - of fright thanks to your scaremongering!
