MO: AGENDA AGAINST ME

Farah claims there is an ‘agenda’ against him as Nike bin Oregon Project

- By Richard Lewis

MO FARAH claims there is a “clear agenda” against him and reiterates he has done nothing wrong – as Nike revealed they were shutting down their Oregon Project.

Farah, 36, was speaking in Chicago ahead of the defence of his marathon crown in the city tomorrow, the first time he has been in the public eye since former coach Alberto Salazar, right, was banned for four years for doping violations.

Farah said: “I am reading this story all the time, as much as I am nice to you, there is a clear agenda to this.

“I have seen this many times. I have seen it with Raheem Sterling, with Lewis Hamilton. I cannot win whatever I do.”

There were no suggestions Farah was involved in any wrongdoing when he was coached by Salazar, whom he left in 2017.

Dr Jeffrey Brown, an endocrinologist who treated many of Salazar’s athletes, has also been banned for four years.

Farah said: “There is no allegation against me. I’ve not done anything wrong.

“Let’s be clear – these allegations are about Alberto Salazar and the Oregon Project. I was never given anything. I’ve never seen Dr Brown. I’m not on testosterone or whatever it is.

“At the time I never saw any wrongdoing when I was there. These allegations are about Alberto Salazar. It’s not about Mo Farah.” Nike yesterday announced the closure of the Oregon Project less than two weeks after its head coach Salazar was banned.

The NOP was established in 2001 and was the home of, among others, Britain’s four-time Olympic champion Farah between 2011 and 2017.

A statement read: “Nike has always tried to put the athlete and their needs at the front of all of our decisions. “We will help all of our athletes in this transition as they choose the coaching set-up that is right for them. We will continue to support Alberto in his appeal.”
