IN OUR London clinic, we have seen a significant increase in the number of enquiries about treatments to tighten and firm the jawline. And this interest is by no means confined to the UK.
US singer Paula Abdul spoke recently about undergoing a non-invasive treatment, FaceTite, to boost her jaw.
“While maintaining a healthy lifestyle and fitness and skincare routines, I still wanted more definition and tighter, firmer skin at my jawline,” she said.
The chin and jawline are one of the first area to show signs of ageing.
Modern technology is partly to blame – constantly looking down at phones and tablets can cause sagging skin and a double chin.
Skin begins to thin in our 20s and, as we reach our 40s, we begin to lose bone, fat and muscle mass in the jaw areas, too.
It is these changes to your facial structure that will mean even the most contoured jawline will eventually lose definition.
Until recently, the only procedure that could do anything for a sagging jaw was surgery.
But thanks to a new wave of technology there are now a multitude of tweakments designed to restore tone to the jawline and lower face too, with results as good as a facelift.
Skincare giants have embraced the trend too, and there are plenty of launches to look out for when it comes to products specifically designed to sculpt, lift and tone the jaw.
So from chin-shaping fillers, to the latest skincare superstars, here we share our pick of the best.
AT THE CLINIC Elevate
Designed to restore a sagging jaw, this uses dissolvable threads to lift and tighten the jawline. Under local anaesthesia, tiny incisions are made behind the ear and along the jawline.
Threads are then inserted, acting like scaffolding to give a tighter, more contoured neck and jaw.
