Soap: Emmerdale, ITV, 7pm

It’s been a week of high drama on Emmerdale with Robert Sugden making the ultimate sacrifice for husband Aaron Dingle by handing himself in to the police, knowing a life on the run would surely have ended in disaster. Aaron won’t give up and he may end up in trouble with the law for trying to help his other half. Whatever happens, their future is sure to involve a few more tears. Elsewhere Bear suggests a name for the baby and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins, left) makes a discovery.

Reality: Rich House, Poor House, Channel 5, 9pm

Berkshire events manager Rob Jones and his two sons (above) swap homes, lives and budgets with the Robinson family, moving out of their 10-bed mansion for the three-bed council house in Salisbury, Wiltshire, occupied by Sacha and Midia and their two children. Midia is a bus driver and husband Sacha is a student with dreams of becoming an inventor of labour-saving devices, which he hopes to sell across the world.

Reality: DIY SOS: The Big Build, BBC1, 8pm

Anyone who has ever picked up tools with good intentions at the weekend will be able to relate to this programme. Nick Knowles (centre) and the team travel to Plymouth to meet the Morfey family, who sold their multi-level home and bought an old wrought-iron forge with the intention of renovating it for their two eldest sons, who have cerebral palsy. But when their daughter got leukaemia and moved miles away for treatment, supported by mum Tara, the family was torn apart. Now the house remains half-built, with no kitchen, hot water or living space. What the Morfeys need is a little help to bring the family back together.

Film: Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Film4, 9pm

Secret agent Ethan Hunt and his team are implicated in a bombing at the Kremlin, forcing the American president to declare them fugitives. The spies plan to clear their name by abducting the real terrorist, which leads them into a pursuit around the globe. However, Hunt cannot be sure his colleagues are trustworth­y. Action adventure sequel, starring Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg (above with Cruise).

Health: Bill Turnbull: Staying Alive, C4, 10pm

In 2017, TV presenter Bill Turnbull (right) was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer shortly after filming The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer. Bill ignored early warning signs and by the time he went to his doctor, the cancer had spread to his bones. He then made the decision to go public in the hope of encouragin­g more men to get checked. This documentar­y follows Bill over a year as he undertakes chemothera­py and adopts a healthier diet.
