GOOD on Ant McPartlin’s wife, Lisa Armstrong, for refusing to sign a gagging order as part of the couple’s £62million divorce.Why should she bow to what McPartlin or his lawyers want in order to save his damaged reputation?

HE was the one who messed up their life and marriage by cheating on her with her friend. HE was the one with the drink and drug problem. So why should SHE be gagged? McPartlin’s lawyers are worried if the case goes to court, there’ll be a lot of mud-slinging. And, actually, who could blame Lisa if she DID want to get her own back and tell the world her husband isn’t the all-round nice guy we were led to believe.

This was a man who didn’t just hurt her deeply, he publicly humiliated her too. The fact is Lisa, who met McPartlin 23 years ago, could have trashed him publicly at any point in the year since they split. She’s had repeated opportunities to stick the knife in and hasn’t because, as her friends say, she’s a decent, loyal human being.

“It’s not about the money for her,” said a pal. “She’s been appalled at the way she’s been treated since the day they broke up.

She’s been labelled bitter and twisted and now she’s being told she needs to shut up and go away.”Which is precisely why she shouldn’t and why McPartlin needs to stop worrying about himself and his public image and show some respect to the woman he’s using his millions to try to control.

He needs to pay up so Lisa can move on. It’s the very least she deserves.
