A FORGOTTEN diary containing autographs of The Beatles – left tucked away at the bottom of a filing cabinet for decades – is set to fetch £6,000 at auction.

Liz Webster was just 17 when she barged into the Fab Four’s dressing room after a gig in 1963.

The cheeky teenager managed to get John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr to sign her diary. George also wrote, “To Liz, with love from the Beatles” above the individual signatures.

Liz, 74, kept the diary safe but forgot all about it until she stumbled across it moving house last year.

The grandmother, from Hampshire, is now selling the book at auction, where it is expected to fetch between £4,000 and £6,000.

The Beatles signed the diary after they performed to a small crowd at the Elizabethan Ballroom, Nottingham, on March 7, 1963 – just before Beatlemania exploded.

Recalling the night, Liz said: “It was just before The Beatles became really famous. There must have been about 100 people there. The band were so wonderful we decided to try

TWO rival rugby teams set aside their differences... to help move an ambulance stuck on the pitch.

It happened after a player dislocated her hip during a match earlier this month.

An ambulance arrived to attend the injured woman but got bogged down in mud.

Both teams immediately combined to push the stranded vehicle free.

to get their autographs. There were about a dozen girls hanging around outside their dressing room.

“We barged our way through. There was no security. They made us feel really welcome.”

The autographs will be sold at Hansons Auctioneers, in Etwall, Derbyshire, on November 19. and Peterhead Ladies, in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, said: “It was a lovely moment, even though unfortunately someone was injured.

“Everyone just instantly ran over and helped. It was good to see the two teams come together and use their strength.

“The people in the ambulance were very grateful for the push. The injured girl is ok.”
