Rocky time for Trump as he is mocked over his ‘knockout’ tweet
DONALD Trump was ridiculed on social media yesterday after boasting that he looked a knockout – as boxer Rocky Balboa.
The 73-year-old President tweeted an image of himself done up like the muscular movie fighter played by Sylvester Stallone.
No words were posted with the image, which appeared as the US leader arrived at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida to kick off a five-day Thanksgiving holiday.
But it appeared to be a follow-up to comments he made the previous evening at a campaign rally, where he had bragged about the awesome impression he made on medics during a health check-up.
Uppercuts
He told supporters: “The first thing they do is say, ‘Take off your shirt, sir, and show us that gorgeous chest. So we want to see. We’ve never seen a chest quite like it.’ No, but seriously.” The boast came as opponents of Mr Trump claimed he is on the ropes because of the impeachment inquiry which is ongoing in Washington.
And it sparked a flurry of verbal uppercuts on social media as users mocked Mr Trump’s hefty physique.
Last year his weight was recorded at 17st 7lb and he had a BMI of around 30, qualifying him as medically obese. One critic, Penny Driver, wrote: “Rocky could tie his own shoes, Trump’s tummy gets in the way.” Peter Carson added: “Rocky defeated Russia. But your ignorance is your playground.” Another critic compared Trump to a 30st US boxer nicknamed “Butterbean”. But son Donald Jr insisted of the Rocky image: “I’ve heard from reliable sources that it’s not doctored.”
