Desperate Labour resort to old lie about the NHS

AN old but bad joke asks, “When can you tell a politician is lying?” Answer: “When they open their mouth.” It may be unfair on many hardworking MPs. But after three years of Brexit betrayal, it probably sounds like the truth to many voters.

Yet this is no laughing matter. Trust is an important issue in this election especially after Labour and its Remainer allies have tried to falsely portray Boris Johnson as a liar. Contrary to the claims, Mr Johnson has consistently told the truth since entering Downing Street and has worked hard for an honest conclusion to Brexit.

Voters can see this, which is why the Conservatives are leading in the polls.

But yesterday we saw a terrible lie from Labour by saying the Conservatives will sell off the NHS to the Americans and privatise it. This is a lie Labour have been consistently making since the election was called. It is a lie they have repeated in elections since the 1980s. But no matter how often they say it, it is a lie.

The phoney evidence produced yesterday was from a 451-page document where the NHS was mentioned a mere four times. All it discusses is buying medicines from pharmaceutical companies – something that already happens. To claim this is the basis of mass privatisation of the NHS or selling it off is scaremongering of the worst order. It is truly shameful that the Labour Party would stoop so low, and disgusting that they would whip up such fear.

But this is what you get from an extremist Marxist party led by a man who allows it to spread the evil of anti-Semitism.

Labour knows that voters feel revulsion just at the sound of Corbyn’s name. They know their hard-Left policies are not popular. The only weapon left to them is the old NHS lie.

The election is just a fortnight away but it cannot come soon enough for voters to give Labour and Corbyn the damning verdict they deserve.
