‘Butchered’ boy’s family flee in tears

RINGO Starr steps out with fellow rocker Jeff Lynne at a restaurant in Beverly Hills.

The Beatle, 79, and ELO founder Lynne, 71, were joined by his wife Barbara Bach and her sister Marjorie, both 72.

Ringo’s sister-in-law is married to Eagles star Joe Walsh, 72, who was also at the function.

Meanwhile fellow Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, 77, revealed the secret of the band’s success.

He told Billboard: “We’d do one song, and it’d be a hit, and instead of doing another with the same formula, we’d say, ‘OK, we’ve done that’.

“You listen to The Beatles’ output and no two songs are alike.”

RELATIVES of a teenage boy wailed in anguish and fled an Old Bailey courtroom yesterday as jurors were shown harrowing CCTV footage of him being stabbed to death.

Jaden Moodie, 14, was knocked off his moped by a gang who knifed him nine times as he lay defenceless in the street, the court heard.

Five young men had toured the area in a stolen black Mercedes looking for a victim to attack, said Oliver Glasgow, QC, prosecuting.

Spotting Jaden as he rode down the street towards them, the killers swerved on to the same side of the road and struck him head-on, Mr Glasgow said.

The teenager was “catapulted” over the bonnet and three youths leapt out of the Mercedes, he added.

Rivalries

“Rather than help him, the three males embarked upon a violent and frenzied attack, repeatedly stabbing him,” Mr Glasgow said.

Members of Jaden’s family gasped and wailed as horrific CCTV film of the attack was played to the court. After a few moments, the disturbing images proved too much and they rushed outside.

Jaden was “butchered” in a residential street in London on January 8 this year. He had allegedly been selling drugs for a rival gang when he was targeted.

The CCTV footage demonstrated how the killers had “no qualms about playing out their petty rivalries using the blade of a knife,” Mr Glasgow said.

Jaden suffered stab wounds to the shoulder, back and chest. One blow punctured a lung and his liver.

“The damage was catastrophic and Jaden Moodie slowly bled to death in the road,” he added. The killers calmly walked away and drove off, the jury was told.

Ayoub Majdouline, 19, is accused of being one of the men in the Mercedes. The youth, from London, denies murder and possession of a knife. As the gang escaped from the scene, they threw away a knife and a pair of yellow gloves. Police discovered them in a drain the following day.

Forensic experts found Jaden’s blood on the discarded knife along with traces of Majdouline’s DNA on the handle. One of the gloves was stained with the victim’s blood and the defendant’s DNA was discovered inside, Mr Glasgow told the jury.

Majdouline insists he played no part in the attack, jurors were told.

The trial continues.
