NHS veto for US trade talks

- By Paul Jeeves

BORIS Johnson last night vowed to walk away from US trade talks rather than allow the NHS to form part of discussions.

The Prime Minister issued his strongest denial yet to Labour claims the Tories will “sell off” the service to US healthcare firms if they win the General Election.

Asked what he would do if Donald Trump demanded the NHS was put on the table, Mr Johnson said: “We would walk away. Literally that would be it.”

He also rejected claims he could not be trusted, saying: “I’ve never tried to deceive the public and I’ve always tried to be absolutely frank.”

FORMER Labour voters are incandescent with rage over Ed Miliband’s blatant “Brexit deception”.

In his Doncaster North constituency – where 72 per cent voted Leave – many believe the Remainsupporting career politician could be unseated in a fortnight’s time with people labelling him a “hypocrite” and “waste of space”.

Retired driver Mick Wray,

71, lambasted Mr Miliband for saying he backed a deal nine times on his leaflet. He said: “It is a party political ploy to try to win votes. He doesn’t believe in Brexit and to say he has backed the deal on the leaflet is disingenuous at best and lying at worst.” Disability benefit claimant Stephen Proctor, 63, accused Mr Miliband of being “deceptive”.

He said: “I’ve never heard of him support any deal so I can’t see why he can say that on his leaflet. He said the only deal Labour “would back is their own – and that is basically Remain.” Retired engineer and coal miner Steve Kay, 67, said: “Ed Miliband is a waste of space. He hasn’t backed any deal so far, so to come out and say he has is, his hypocrisy is laughable.

“I think this could unseat him. Traditionally a donkey in a red rosette could get in here but I think a lot of people will be voting for the Brexit Party now.”

But retired electrical engineer Terence Simpson, 75, backed Labour.

He said: “In fairness to Ed Miliband, he has focused on issues other than Brexit which affect people’s lives and Labour is campaigning for change on those issues.

“Sadly the whole election has been dominated by Brexit.”
