Lorraine has a bawl at 60th party
TEARS of joy flowed for Lorraine Kelly yesterday, as showbiz pals showered her with presents and praise during a surprise 60th birthday show.
Confetti rained down on the emotional star as her programme was hijacked by Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard.
He told Lorraine, who turns 60 today: “Your first surprise is, I’m taking over the show today. You have no scripts, no briefs.
“Which, let me tell you, if you do host a live television show that’s the most terrifying thing in the world.
“It’s like being naked, or like wearing a kilt the traditional way. She’s got no idea what is in store!”
Treats included football pundit Chris Kamara bursting out of a cake.
She exclaimed: “Oh my gosh! It’s my favourite man” while Chris gushed over his “beautiful” friend and the pair joked they would be married in another life. He quipped: “There’s still time!”
He then joined former Bake Off winner Candice Brown in the kitchen where they both rustled up birthday cakes for her.
There were more tears when Army Cadets gifted her a uniform and cap, revealing she was being given the title of Honorary Colonel of the Army Cadets across the UK.
Lorraine, a passionate supporter of the Armed Forces, told them: “I’m so honoured and can’t wait to be working with you again.”
And a host of stars including Dolly Parton, Simon Cowell, Olivia Newton-John and Kylie Minogue sent their wishes in a video.
Finally, Lorraine wept again when her younger brother Graham and daughter Rosie, 25, joined her via videolink from Singapore.
