It’ll be Coronation Street in TV’s jungle when Andy is crowned says pal Alan

Teary Kate’s got trial licked

KATE Garraway cried tears of joy and relief after she won five out of seven stars in the latest Bushtucker Trial by using her tongue.

The TV host, 52, had to hunt for stars hidden in famous London landmarks.

At “Bug Ben” Kate tried to unscrew the star with her tongue as insects fell on her head, above.

Unfortunately she started working the star the wrong way and ran out of time.

Kate also failed to overcome her fear of snakes but proved a success in the other trials last night.

She counted five stars in front of Ant and Dec and then started to cry, saying that she “didn’t want to let people down”.

ANDY Whyment is the natural King of the Jungle because he “represents your everyday man,” said his best mate and fellow Coronation Street star Alan Halsall.

The actor, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, used to share a flat with Andy when they were single.

And yesterday bookmakers made him odds-on favourite to triumph in this year’s I’m A Celebrity…

Alan, 37, said: “Andy’s doing absolutely amazing. He is the exact same person that I see every day – just a very funny and genuine man.

“I know he can win. Andy represents your everyday man that people can relate to. He hasn’t been as ‘hangry’ for food as I thought he may be either!”

Their friendship began in 1993 when they met at a theatre workshop in Oldham.

They were inseparable when Andy joined Coronation Street in 2000 as Kirk Sutherland. Alan, who had been on the show since 1988, took him under his wing.

Andy is married to Nichola, and the couple have two children. Alan is with girlfriend Tisha Merry, 37.

Alan says Andy is his

“brother from another mother” and has not been surprised by his antics – including being the first to perform karaoke in the Jungle Arms pub.

He said: “He walks in a place and asks the DJ if they have his songs immediately, it’s like he cannot wait!”

Asked how they will celebrate, Alan added: “Andy has organised a Chinese and some beers for when he gets back which me and Tisha are looking forward to – sharing with the King of the Jungle.”
