Yob wrecks disabled girl’s therapy pool
THE family of a disabled little girl have been left devastated after a “vile and vindictive” vandal targeted her hydrotherapy pool.
Evie Carr, six, cannot walk without a harness but has been able to swim unaided since she was 18 months old – thanks to the warm therapeutic water.
But parents Jonathan and Michelle were left heartbroken after someone broke into their garden last week and filled Evie’s pool with black paint.
The criminal was caught on CCTV and now the family and police are appealing for information.
Meanwhile, Evie has had to go without her home hydrotherapy.
Jonathan, 47, of Blidworth, Notts, said: “Whoever has done this is a vile and vindictive person – the lowest of the low. It is ruined beyond repair.
“It’s hard to sum up how I feel. It’s the hardest thing anyone could hit us with.
Tears
“It is breaking my heart even to look at it.We have both been in tears about it.
“I have no words to describe what they have done and the damage they have caused.
“The effect it will have is massive. Evie loves the pool and you can see from the videos how much she enjoys it.”
Evie was diagnosed with the rare condition pachygyria at five months old.
She suffers with epilepsy and cerebral palsy and has feeding and swallowing difficulties. As there is currently no cure the family were advised to start physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.
The local community rallied around and in October 2016 donated £8,600 towards the pool, along with £2,000 for landscaping and decking.
A replacement will cost £15,000 and the family are fundraising again through gofundme.com/f/evalynswims
