Politics: The Brexit Storm Continues: Laura Kuenssberg’s Inside Story, BBC2, 9pm
Few people have a better grasp of the current state of British politics than Laura Kuenssberg (left) and in this documentary she explores the tumultuous events of Boris Johnson’s Conservative government. The programme follows his appointment as leader of the Conservative party, attempts to secure a Brexit deal with the European Union, the attempted proroguing of parliament, an act subsequently declared unlawful, and the eventual calling of a general election. Featuring MPs on all sides, who reveal the pressure they have come under from an increasingly divided and frustrated electorate.
Comedy: Live At The Apollo, BBC2, 10pm
Brilliant Dagenham comic Sara Pascoe (left) introduces a special festive edition of the comedy show recorded before a packed house at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, warming up the audience and then introducing routines by Chris McCausland and musical comedy double act Flo & Joan. For those of you unfamiliar with the work of the latter, they are the two girls who rose to prominence after appearing in a television advert for a high-street bank recently.
Animals: The Supervet, C4, 8pm
A special festive edition following Noel Fitzpatrick (above) as he treats former rescue dogs who have found a new life as family pets but are still plagued by medical problems. They include a shih tzu with damaged discs that are treated with special supports, small pins and cement, a bulldog puppy with a fracture that extends across a growth plate and a German shepherd that has had a leg amputated.
Drama: Sticks And Stones, ITV, 9pm
Thomas feels under pressure to succeed in all aspects of his life, so arranges three vitally important encounters on the same night. First he attempts to ingratiate himself with his boss over a drink, then tries to persuade an old friend to become a new client, and finally has dinner with his father-in-law. However, his attempt to do too much has terrible consequences. Ken Nwosu and Susannah Fielding (both above) star.
Reality: The Undateables, C4, 9pm
Much excitement (rightly) surrounds the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special that is to come but let us first enjoy this little beauty tonight. Familiar faces from the dating show share their plans for the Christmas season, including rock singer Daniel, who is celebrating his first anniversary with fiancée Lily, and has prepared a special festive surprise. Elsewhere, Christine plans to take her boyfriend Ray (right) on a Christmas trip to see his beloved Leeds United play a match.
