BRENDAN RODGERS claims Leicester’s players have shown a real “hunger to succeed’ by reaching their first semi-final in 19 years.
Rodgers has transformed the Foxes from mid-table mediocrity to title challengers in his 10 months in charge.
The former Liverpool boss has also steered Leicester into a semi-final for the first time since 2000 after his side overcame Everton in a Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out on Wednesday.
“These players have been absolutely brilliant since the first day I came in,” said Rodgers, right.
“They have a hunger to succeed. We try to make sure we focus on each game and to win a quarter-final, especially with the way Everton have been playing, was a great achievement.
“This is a team that is coming from 12th when we came in here and it is progressing and developing.”
Rodgers’ progress is remarkable, especially because they lost England centre-half Harry Maguire in the summer, and the club have gone 11 games unbeaten.
Leicester will be favourites in their two-leg semi-final with Aston Villa next month.
“Everyone wants to win trophies, of course, but we have to fight,” said Rodgers.
“We are not entitled to win, we just have to fight and work hard at our game. If we do that, great, but as long as we can make progress and develop.
“If you can win a trophy, then, of course, it gives you that hunger for more.
