England, Germany, Italy and France as well as three European Cup wins. Everton are shelling out a reported £7million a year on him working that magic here. “Yesterday I was walking in the city everyone was kind, a lot of pictures,” the manager said. “Liverpool is a football city, you can smell there is football everywhere here. Evertonians and Liverpool fans also, but they are respectful.”

If he can inch the club out of the shadow of local rivals Liverpool it would earn Ancelotti not just respect but eternal gratitude.

SEAN DYCHE is looking forward to watching Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton revolution – but only after he has taken his Burnley side to Goodison Park on Boxing Day.

“Without a shadow of a doubt he is one of the big managers of the Premier League era, with his past, what he has achieved in the game,” said Clarets boss Dyche, right.

“This is a different challenge, maybe. It will be interesting, if there was a remit, what that is.

“For a manager who is regularly in the Champions League and won all sorts across Europe, he must have gone in there with the thought he could make it a very successful place. “There has been a lot more emphasis on managers over the last three years or so.

“It used to be a lot more about the players. But the quality of managers certainly rises when people like him come in.” Dyche could have Johann Berg Gudmundsson, sidelined since October with a hamstring injury, back in his squad. Defender Ben Gibson is still absent while midfielder Jeff Hendrick will serve a one-match ban.
