Pets: Paul O’Grady’s For The Love Of Dogs aAt Christmas, ITV, 6pm

Paul helps out at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home over the festive period, where he is enlisted to help pooches with behavioura­l problems. They include a reclusive mongrel that refuses to leave its kennel and a grumpy Yorkshire terrier that refuses to walk. Paul also helps an overprotec­tive Staffie mum struggling to say goodbye to her pups and a one-year-old puppy that just cannot stop having little accidents.

Film: The Jungle Book, BBC1, 3.45pm

A boy is raised by animals in the jungles of India, but his carefree life is threatened by the return of a fierce tiger with a grudge against humans. The youngster faces a difficult choice between remaining with his friends or returning to his own people. Live action remake of Disney’s animated adventure based on Rudyard Kipling’s stories, starring Neel Sethi, with the voices of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Idris Elba.

Quiz: Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, C4, 9pm

What meal did US president Donald Trump serve a visiting football team at the White House? Who is Andy King and what is he now known as? What did rapper Cardi B fail to trademark. And how did Jennifer Aniston break the internet in 2019? In an attempt to find out, comedian Jimmy Carr welcomes Dara O Briain, Maya Jama, Asim Chaudhry, Roisin Conaty, Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding to the end-of-year celebrity panel game, putting their knowledge of the past 12 months to the test. On hand to help are veteran broadcaste­r Jon Snow, Mitchell Brook Primary School and a whole host of celebrity questionse­tters trying to trip up the intrepid panel with tricky posers.

Film: Cool Runnings, Channel 5, 5.15pm

A sprinter fails to qualify for the Jamaican Olympic squad but refuses to give up his dream. Learning that a former US bobsleigh coach is living nearby, he seizes the chance to shine in a different sport, and cajoles three of his friends to join him in training for the 1988 Winter Olympics in the far less tropical environmen­t of Canada. Fact-based comedy, with John Candy, Leon, Doug E Doug and Malik Yoba.

Soap: EastEnders, BBC1, 9pm

The events of Christmas Day weigh heavy in Walford, with more than one family left ripped apart. Sharon (Letitia Dean, right) and Keanu’s worlds have been torn apart but how far has Phil gone? On a happier note, Gray and Chantelle are excited about renewing their wedding vows but their plans are ruined when the venue cancels. Patrick is unhappy about Denise meddling in his personal life and takes an extreme course of action.
