Cressida: ‘I respect their decision to withdraw’

- By Mark Reynolds

PRINCE Harry’s former girlfriend Cressida Bonas said she “respects” Meghan Markle and will not judge the couple’s decision to withdraw from royal duties.

The actress, 30, who dated Harry for two years, also said she still suffered intense scrutiny because of her links with the Duke.

Cressida, introduced to Harry in 2012 by Princess Eugenie, said: “I wouldn’t take a position on that (whether she judged

Meghan) as it would be a headline...and also out of respect. How would I feel if an ex was talking about me?

“It feels like a long time ago so when it comes up it feels strange because I’m in a very different place now.

“I’m getting married, I’ve learned a lot. I’m much more comfortable in my own skin. I’m growing.”

However, she appeared frustrated at still being asked about Harry years later. She said: “No one likes to be labelled. The barriers are when I’m trying to do my work and people want to talk about him.

“I work very hard and love what I do, but it is still something I have to contend with.

“People will perhaps always ask me about it.”

Cressida, who recently starred as the sister of notorious family killer Jeremy Bamber in an ITV drama, also revealed she had met the disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

She said: “I met him a couple of times. What has happened since is such a progression – out of the horribleness a lot more care is being taken on set.”

Referring to her wedding plans with fiance Harry Wentworth-Stanley, an estate agent, she said: “I won’t have a huge wedding, that’s not us...and I don’t want a meringue dress.”
