PERHAPS THE PRAIRIES OF CANADA AREN’T GREENER AFTER ALL…

-

AFTER this week’s crisis summit at Sandringham, it looked like Harry and Meghan were going to get the Canada-style transition deal they wanted. Trouble is it’s looking like Canada doesn’t want them.

The country’s PM Justin Trudeau is already rowing back on his promise to foot the couple’s security bill and Canada’s biggest-selling newspaper, The Globe and Mail, says as long as the pair remain royal, they shouldn’t be allowed to stay.

Add to that a poll, which says only three per cent of Canadians think they should pay their security bill and just 14 per cent were “very happy” that they were choosing to live there – and it’s not looking good. The Globe editorial made clear that

Canadians respect the Queen and the institution to which she, and they, belong and don’t want either damaged.

There’s also been talk that Harry should be given the plum Governor General’s job which would presumably allow him to draw money from the royal purse and continue his life of unbridled luxury. But the Canadians aren’t having that either because for years the job has been done by a Canadian: “Princes are not shipped over here when no useful duties can be found for them on the other side of the Atlantic,” says the paper.

So, it’s looking like that warm Canadian welcome Harry and Meghan were banking on might not be so warm after all.

DESPITE her vile views on abortion Rebecca Long Bailey, who believes pregnant women shouldn’t be allowed to terminate their pregnancy because of disability after 24 weeks now looks like the favourite to win the Party leadership having secured the backing of Momentum. Boris must be delighted. That’ll give him another decade in Number 10!
