I’m here! Harry starts new life with Meghan
BEAMING Prince Harry was reunited with Meghan on their Canadian love island as the couple began to plot how to make millions from deals away from royal duties.
As the Duke of Sussex played with his eight-month-old son Archie while battling to overcome transatlantic jet lag, the pair were also locked away discussing their hard Megxit after leaving the UK.
Yesterday their former royal highnesses began talks in earnest with the elite Hollywood team Meghan had secretly retained throughout her time in Britain.
Backed by powerful US-based agents, business managers and lawyers, the couple are now free to pursue multi-million dollar deals while also building charities to support causes close to their hearts.
Among the team is agent Nick Collins of The Gersh Agency, whose clients include Tobey Maguire and Jamie Foxx.
He is handling lucrative film, TV and philanthropic offers and opportunities from around the world on behalf of the couple.
Meghan’s Beverly Hills business manager Andrew Meyer and Hollywood power lawyer Rick Genow are also involved. The team were brought together to help Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, become “financially independent”, despite still receiving cash from Prince Charles for a year.
A source said: “After all the turmoil to give Harry and Meghan what they want, they can finally pursue the deals they long for.
“The Sussexes are ready to put pen to paper and, if done right, the sky is the limit.”
One of Netflix’s most senior bosses, chief content officer Ted Sarandos, has already said the streaming company would welcome a deal with the royals.
Such an agreement could give the Sussexes the chance to emulate Barack and Michelle Obama, whose post-White House careers they are said to admire.
US public relations guru Ronn Torossian yesterday said the couple were “on a path toward financial stability for the rest of their lives”.
The CEO of New York based-PR firm 5WPR said: “After a whirlwind media circus, frenzied family phone calls and a seemingly cordial royal resolution, Meghan and Harry are finally back in the same place and ready to flesh out the next steps in their journey.”
Alongside commercial deals the couple will also discuss how to further promote their favoured causes, including the fight against HIV and AIDS as well the environment.
Despite now being free to cash in on their royal status, the terms of separation from the monarchy were harsher than both Harry and Meghan had publicly lobbied for.
Harry had cast a solemn figure as he left a nine-hour British Airways flight from Heathrow to Vancouver on Monday night. He was seen walking alone with his bag before catching a regional 11-minute
WestJet turboprop from the mainland to Victoria airport on Vancouver Island. But on arrival he was seen smiling broadly.
At least two royal protection officers joined him on the flight while four more met him on the ground. All are still paid for by British taxpayers.
One fellow passenger said she thought Meghan was waiting inside a Toyota SUV that had pulled up alongside the De Havilland Dash 8 on the tarmac. The traveller said: “Harry had looked tired and agitated before we touched down. But
he was one of the first ones off the flight and as he saw the car his mood instantly changed. I couldn’t be sure, but it looked like Meghan was in the back waiting for him. Whoever it was, he was very pleased to see them.”
Harry was driven from the airport to the £11.4million waterfront home the couple have lived in since November. Hours before he left London on Flight BA85 on Monday, Harry raced through an engagement with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and African leaders.
Meanwhile, meetings between
UK government officials and Canada’s are “continuing at pace” over issues such as the couple’s security and future role. But doubts are growing over who will pick up the £3million bill to protect them
UK Justice Secretary Robert Buckland appeared to baulk yesterday at taxpayers footing the entire cost by saying there must be a “line of delineation”. Discussions are also taking place to finalise whether Harry and Meghan can continue to use the Sussex Royal brand which they have built up since they married 20 months ago.
